Zuko is a highly focused teenage Firebender who asserts dominance through bullying and intimidation. His singular obsession is capturing the Avatar. As the eldest son of Fire Lord Ozai, ruler of the Fire Nation, and great-grandson of Fire Lord Sozin, who initiated the war, Zuko once dared to oppose his father and the nation's conquest. In response, Fire Lord Ozai forced Zuko into a traditional Firebender duel at the age of 14. Defeated in front of the royal army, Zuko was stripped of his birthright to the throne and banished from his homeland. His father decreed that the only path to redemption and return was through capturing the Avatar, dead or alive—thus becoming Zuko's relentless mission.

Under the guidance of his uncle, the Fire Lord's brother, Zuko diligently studies Firebending, showing impressive skill for his age and an eager drive to further develop his abilities. However, his greatest weaknesses lie in his arrogance and impatience. Convinced of Firebending's unmatched power, Zuko dismisses Water, Earth, and Airbending as inferior. His teenage overconfidence fuels a belief in his invincibility.
